Truss System Transforms San Antonio Home Using Fypon
Linda and David Naas wanted to build their dream home—a rustic-style Tudor—in San Antonio, Texas. With the help of Fypon polyurethane products and builder Genuine Custom Homes, their dream has become a reality. The one-story house, just under 4,000 square feet, consists of four bedrooms and three-and-a-half bathrooms. The home sits on a cliff, creating a scenic backyard view from any of the three levels of the porch, fire pit or pool.
With the couple seeking a rustic style, Michael Bryant, owner of Genuine Custom Homes, knew Fypon beams in a wood texture would win them over. Bryant first discovered Fypon beams when he saw them at the International Builders’ Show in Las Vegas in 2016.
“I stopped by a booth for a demonstration and instantly fell in love with the product,” Bryant said.
David shared Bryant’s enthusiasm. “Not only did the Fypon beams fit into our budget, they seemed easier to install,” he said.
The most difficult challenge Bryant faced during the project was coordinating the stain of the beams to the Naas’ wood mantelpiece and other wood accents in the home.
“The customer wanted the Fypon beam finish to match the reclaimed wood mantle finish,” Bryant said. “Stylistically speaking, Fypon had the best style choice for the application. We wanted to showcase a particular wood finish, and the Fypon trusses allowed us to best articulate this look in the home’s interior.”
What’s more, “The Fypon beams were architecturally accurate, and the texture was realistic, which was important to our client,” Bryant added. “In fact, no one has been able to tell the difference between the polyurethane Fypon woodgrain beams and the real wood mantel.”
Overall, the Genuine Custom Homes team was able to satisfy the Naas’ wishes for a rustic-Tudor style home, and Bryant says it’s thanks to Fypon’s product offerings. The endless options of Fypon products can add a special touch to all projects, fulfilling the customer’s wants and needs.
