Decorative Moulding and Millwork Finish off Lake-Front Minnesota Home
Many homeowners dream of finding beautiful lakefront property to build a home, and a Minnesota family recently put the finishing touches on exactly that. With the help of Paul Thomas Design Build and Fypon products, the home was finished with the cozy lakehouse exterior and interior feel.
The 2,300-square-foot, 3-bedroom, 4-bathroom home completed in July 2017 replaces another that was on the property prior, that was drafty and cold. The new home was reconfigured to take advantage of the lakefront property, and includes an open-plan living room/dining room/kitchen and an elongated great room that is fronted by an expansive wall of glass opening up to a 38-foot-wide deck and the lake beyond.
Fypon’s Rough Sawn beams were installed in the great room and were paired with tongue–and-groove pine, and the same look and feel is mimicked in the basement where more Fypon beams are paired with reclaimed wood. Additionally, Fypon crown moulding and baseboard trim were used on the interior to create a dramatic look.
“That’s what we love about Fypon,” the homeowner says. “The woodgrain is so realistic looking. I fell in love with the look when I first saw it.”
“Once I got the samples, I was amazed by how real it looks,” echoes Paul Vogstrom, owner of Paul Thomas Design Build. “We ended up using more than we’d planned.”
Since Fypon’s polyurethane materials stand up well to the elements – like the hot, humid Minnesota summers and wet winters – corbels, shutters, column wraps and additional beams were used on the exterior. Learn more about the products used in this project.
